Plan for your animals as part of your household plan.

Before

Pack food, water, bowls and any medication with dosage instructions.
Keep a carrier, crate, lead or harness where you can reach it.
Keep a recent photo of your pet with you, and their microchip and ID details.
Keep vaccination and vet records together.
Agree a trusted person who could look after your pet, and make sure they can get in.
Find places to stay that accept pets, in case you have to leave home.

During

If anyone is in immediate danger, call 999. Follow instructions from the emergency services and public authorities.

Keep pets indoors and calm, away from hazards.
If you are told to leave home, take your pets and their kit if it is safe to do so.
Follow instructions from the emergency services.

After

Check your pet for injury or stress, and contact your vet if needed.
Update ID details if anything changed.
Restock your pet kit.

People who need extra help

If you couldn't care for your pet during an emergency, agree a backup carer now and write their details in your plan.
