Councils and Local Resilience Forums

Meet your duty to warn and inform, and show it worked

PrepareNow gives residents a calm, practical route to being prepared, under your name, and gives you evidence of what changed.

The problem

Only 13% of UK adults say their household is largely or totally prepared for an emergency, and only 14% have a household plan.

Residents look to their council: 66% see the local council as responsible for preparing people for emergencies. But leaflets and web pages don't show whether anyone acted.

Working with the national campaign

PrepareNow is the local activation and measurement layer for national advice. We carry national messages to residents through your channels, and turn them into completed actions you can count.

What residents get

  • A co-branded printed pack and local web page
  • A two-minute readiness check with their next three actions
  • A family plan they can print
  • Checklists for power cuts, water problems, winter and pets
  • Reminders and a 30-day challenge (in the PrepareNow app)
  • Easy Read, large print and assisted completion where needed

What you get

  • Reach by channel: schools, GPs, libraries, hubs and partners
  • Readiness change at day 0, 30 and 90, by area
  • A published local case study
  • Totals only: you never see household identities, and we never create a list of vulnerable residents

How we measure

  • Day 0Baseline. What plans, supplies and backups do households have today?
  • Day 30Activation. Who started the check, completed a plan or took part in the challenge?
  • Day 90Outcome. What changed, where, and where do gaps remain?
  • Plan
  • Kit
  • Backup
  • Support
  • Confidence
