Prepare today. Ready tomorrow.
Simple, practical guides and tools from resilience professionals, to help your household cope with power cuts, water problems, storms and other disruption, without the worry.
The missing step is the front door
National plans, resilience forums and councils prepare for emergencies every day. But the system stops one step short of the household.
PrepareNow helps households take that last step, and shows what changed.
- National strategy, risk and campaigns
- Local Resilience Forum multi-agency planning
- Local authority local delivery and information
- Ward and community networks and volunteers
- Household where PrepareNow works
Three steps to a calmer, better-prepared home
- StartFind out how ready you are in two minutes, and what to do first.
- PlanAgree who to call, where to meet and who does what.
- PrepareBuild your supplies a little at a time, and keep them up to date.
Reach households, help them act, measure the difference
Councils, resilience forums, utilities, employers and charities use PrepareNow to bring household preparedness to the people they serve.
Councils and LRFs
Meet your duty to warn and inform, and show it worked.
Utilities and sponsors
Reach priority customers before the outage, not during it.
Employers
Staff whose homes can cope can keep working.
Charities and community
Reach the people others miss, and help them act.
Measured, not just distributed
Leaflet counts don't show whether anyone acted. We measure readiness before, after 30 days and after 90 days, across five areas.
- Day 0Baseline. What plans, supplies and backups do households have today?
- Day 30Activation. Who started the check, completed a plan or took part in the challenge?
- Day 90Outcome. What changed, where, and where do gaps remain?
- Plan
- Kit
- Backup
- Support
- Confidence
Built by practitioners
PrepareNow was founded by Vikki and Laurie, resilience professionals with decades of experience in emergency planning and crisis response across the military, local government and the financial sector.
They saw the same pattern again and again: households are affected first by disruption, yet get the least clear guidance. PrepareNow brings the calm, practical approach professionals rely on to every home.
Informed by official guidance
Our advice is informed by guidance from UK Government Prepare, the National Risk Register, the Met Office, the Environment Agency and devolved equivalents, the NHS and the British Red Cross. We always point you to official sources during a live incident.
